Abstract
Superstition and irrational beliefs play a significant role in classical Urdu Dastans, reflecting not only thecultural norms of the time but also the collective psyche of the society. These narratives often featureelements such as jinns, fairies, talismans, magic, unlucky days, and omens that influence the fate of thecharacters. Such elements do not merely serve as tools of fantasy but actively shape the plot and moralundertone of the stories. This study analyzes superstitious elements in prominent Urdu Dastansparticularly Tilism-e-Hoshruba, Dastan-e-Amir Hamza, and other traditional tales  to explore how theymirror societal thought patterns and beliefs. The analysis suggests that superstition in these narrativesshould not be viewed only as a literary device, but as a reflection of the social and psychological conditionsof the era in which they were written. In todays context, these tales offer insight into the roots of irrationalbeliefs and their continued presence in modern cultural consciousness
